Birds > oneeyeblink  > Nature > Mostly Twigs
Welcome to Mostly Twigs!
Almost all of these pictures were taken in the wild or semi wild, parks and such. Birds that were going about their business and occasionally being curious about what the hell I was doing on their patch.
Because these shots are taken in the wild and my shooting style is one of hiking, stalking etc. it's sometimes difficult (but fun) to get set up for that perfect shot. Of course serendipity comes into play and is one of the big attractions of this kind of shooting.
I will sort things into sub galleries as soon as I figure out how to do that. In the mean time I will continue to add photos and text.
Enjoy.

Cheers
Bryan

oneeyeblink > Bicoloured Antbird. This guy was at the same Army Ant event at Los Cusingos. I've never seen so many different species of birds in such a small area. They were making a huge racket and were very excited and seemed unconcerned about us standing in the middle of the ant swarm.

oneeyeblink > Juvenile Streaked Saltire I think. At Tallari near San Isidro, Costa Rica.
oneeyeblink > White-winged Tanager, I had two kicks at the can with one of these guys over two days. I blew it both times. They are a bit hard to spot. I think it might be because they are such a bright red. It seems they feel like a sitting duck. They certainly act like they feel a bit conspicuous and hence shy.
Normally I would have deleted this shot. The more I looked at it the more it seemed to represent their behaviour, secretive. Plus I like the way he is peeping at me through the hole in the leaf.
oneeyeblink > Orange-collared Manakin at Los Cusingos reserve near San Isidro, Costa Rica.
oneeyeblink > Yellow-headed Vireo. At Tallari near San Isidro.
oneeyeblink > Riverside Wren at Talari near San Isidro. They grow them big down there. This one was keeping an eye on us. Its fledged youngsters were near by. The parents hid them in a thicket and were delivering food to them. Interesting behavior to watch. They really were right by a riverside.
