Birds > oneeyeblink  > Nature > Mostly Twigs
Welcome to Mostly Twigs!
Almost all of these pictures were taken in the wild or semi wild, parks and such. Birds that were going about their business and occasionally being curious about what the hell I was doing on their patch.
Because these shots are taken in the wild and my shooting style is one of hiking, stalking etc. it's sometimes difficult (but fun) to get set up for that perfect shot. Of course serendipity comes into play and is one of the big attractions of this kind of shooting.
I will sort things into sub galleries as soon as I figure out how to do that. In the mean time I will continue to add photos and text.
Enjoy.

Cheers
Bryan

oneeyeblink > One of two Orchard Oriole that stopped by for a visit in Noels back yard in San Isidro, Costa Rica.
oneeyeblink > juvenile White-ruffed Manakin at Los Cusingos, Costa Rica. This guy was at the same Army ant party as the two squabbling Woodcreepers.
oneeyeblink > Tawny-winged Woodcreeper at Los Cusingos, Costa Rica.
This guy was at the same party as the Ruddy Woodcreeper. The party being a largish army ant trail. Lots of birds feasting on the terrified insects trying to escape the ant hordes.
Both the Ruddy and Tawny-winged Woodcreepers took exception to each others presence so got into a big squabble. There was pushing and shoving and everything.
oneeyeblink > Ruddy Woodcreeper at Los Cusingos, Costa Rica. Noel was really excited about seeing this guy since they aren't all that common. Of course I didn't know that and promptly got excited too.

oneeyeblink > Buff-rumped Warbler at Tallari, Costa Rica. This guy was pretty cocky. I didn't know how cocky until we saw him attack and harass an eight foot Boa Constrictor. He jumped on the Boa and sassed it, making a huge racket until it turned tail and left. The boa that is.
oneeyeblink > Blue-crowned Motmot at Talari lodge grounds. There were three of these guys hooting at each other in the same general area down by the river. Bit on the skittish side but managed to get off a few shots without driving them nuts.
oneeyeblink > Slate-throated Redstart up at San Gerardo De Rivas, Costa Rica. Almost all the shots up there were taken on Noels property. Up near the trail head for Chirripo National Park. I believe it spans the Costa Rica/Panama border. An amazing place.
oneeyeblink > Paltry Tyrannulet up at San Gerardo De Rivas, Costa Rica. Plain but charming, this little guy was pretty insistent on getting its photo in the paper so to speak. It followed me around watching my every move and showing a genuine curiosity in whatever we were doing. So I thought what the hell lets get some shots and see if the Hollywood agents salute.
oneeyeblink > Montezuma Oropendola near a road somewhere in southern Costa Rica, I not sure where.
I love these guys for their odd calling acrobatics. When they throw their head back to squawk they fall forward letting gravity take over until they are hanging upside down on the perch as they finish the call. Very funny to watch.
