oneeyeblink > Bicoloured Antbird. This guy was at the same Army Ant event at Los Cusingos. I've never seen so many different species of birds in such a small area. They were making a huge racket and were very excited and seemed unconcerned about us standing in the middle of the ant swarm.

oneeyeblink > White-winged Tanager, I had two kicks at the can with one of these guys over two days. I blew it both times. They are a bit hard to spot. I think it might be because they are such a bright red. It seems they feel like a sitting duck. They certainly act like they feel a bit conspicuous and hence shy. Normally I would have deleted this shot. The more I looked at it the more it seemed to represent their behaviour, secretive. Plus I like the way he is peeping at me through the hole in the leaf.

oneeyeblink > Riverside Wren at Talari near San Isidro. They grow them big down there. This one was keeping an eye on us. Its fledged youngsters were near by. The parents hid them in a thicket and were delivering food to them. Interesting behavior to watch. They really were right by a riverside.
oneeyeblink > He knew I was there, even though there was a lot of leaves and branches between us. He is a Blue-gray Tanager. Although you will see these guys everywhere I still liked seeing them. In the early mornings they and the Palm Tanagers would sit on the balcony rail looking in the window and occasionally tapping said window trying to get our attention. I guess they knew who was putting all those tasty bananas out on the feeders.

oneeyeblink > Speckled Tanager up at San Gerardo de Rivas, Costa Rica. There were so many different species of birds in such a small area up there I didn't know where to look first. I could spend weeks and not get them all.
